As everyone knows this coming weekend is the 2014 NeFigure8n Championship Race in Wahoo at 1:00. Once again this year we have trophies for top 12 in both features so everyone in the feature should earn a trophy!!! We also have points trophies for the top ten in both classes along with rookie of the year trophies for both classes. We are having championship race shirts made this year and they will be available Friday and Saturday. There will be a kids candy dash during the intermission to help give everyone some extra time to work on their cars. After the race there will be a tuff truck competition similar to what took place at Arlington. Once that is all over with we will then have the free will BBQ in the pits and hand out all the trophies, along with some prizes. Camping is available and has been free the past few years for everyone. A few of us will be camping Friday night as well so feel free to come down and have some fun! If you would like to help with the event as far as side dishes for the meal feel free to give me a call or send a text. Will also need some help putting up and moving banners along with getting the trophies all out and ready to present. This should be a fun weekend and a great end to the season. See everyone this weekend and keep sharing the posts on Facebook to help promote the event!!!

Mother Nature has thrown a wrench into the Championship Race. The arena at Wahoo is too wet to hold a race. They have decided to build a track east of the campgrounds to give us a spot to race. Races will start at 4. Grandstand admission will be free to watch. There will be a free will donation taken in the stands and in the pits and any purse paid out today will depend on money donated. Free will BBQ and trophy presentation will still happen after the event. There will be grandstands but limited. Bring lawn chairs. Setup will be similar to Crete.
Wow, what a weekend in Wahoo for the 2014 NeFigure8n Championship Race!!!
The weekend didn't go as planned due to 7.5" of rain being dumped on us Friday evening and night. The main track was a mess and there was no way to race in that this weekend. With that in mind we had a couple options, cancel the show and eat the $2000+ we had in food, trophies and shirts, find a different weekend and possibly different location to run, or build a new track and run. Since we had everything going in Wahoo that day and some cars there ready to race we decided to build a new track and see who would come. I want to thank the Saunders County Fair Board for tearing up a muddy field to build us that track as the cars and the fans came!!! The fair board lost money this year as no admission was charged due to the change in location and yet they still had some expenses. We had a awesome car count and the stands that were moved in were full as were a lot of pickup tailgates, lawn chairs and everything else people could sit on or stand next to. The candy dash at the first intermission was unbelievable as the kids stretched across the track and had a blast loading their bags. The racing was great and it was probably the longest track we raced on all year and held up great. The racers who showed along with the fans pitched in money to make a $4000 purse which was awesome and unexpected! The powder puff race had a lot of ladies racing and they put on a very good show as well. The BBQ meal was delicious again this year and more people enjoyed the food then in any other year! The Championship race shirts sold out long before the race started and we probably could have sold another thirty + if we had more to take over to the crowd to sell. The trophy presentation went great as we handed out more than $2000 in trophies, we got some good pictures to share and gave away some items thanks to Klute Truck Equipment, Agri-Cover & NeFigure8n. We gave out some extra awards to three guys thanks to Wize Guys Media. Mike also created a nice program that was given to drivers and fans for free. All in all the day was a great success and ended up way better than we all thought when getting up that morning and looked at the main track.
Thanks goes out to The Nebraska Lottery, NAPA, Sid Dillon, EGR Construction, Alternative Service & Repair, Klute Truck Equipment, Brookelyn's Hair & Replacement, Back Porch Smokers and Wize Guys Media! Those business helped make the 2014 Championship race a monster success!!!
A very big thank you goes out to Jeff Draper for smoking all the meat for the BBQ and slaving away on a very hot day. Along with Jeff I want to thank Todd Ogorzolka for the candy dash, Mike Murray, his family and all his crew for the job they did, Mike Wize for taking a lot of video this year along with running the website and handling the points series. Without all of these guys and others who chipped in the day wouldn't have been a success, so thank them the next time you see them or shoot them a message.
Thanks again to those who raced all year and at the championship race! I hope you enjoy the hardware that was given out Saturday!!!
