Hello. NO over-bore on a stock class engine? Really? Must be a stock bore? Since when? Again, back to my question, what is stock? Stock bore will only lead to more money in engines. (A new GM 350 block is $1450.00). I do not think that is the way to go. I certainly do not think tearing down an engine after a race is the way to go.
Should a driver who has won a race in the open class (with an open class car) be allowed to drive in the stock class (with a stock class car)?
When will the bank statements be printed? David Bryan

Logan how do you figure that makes ur car stock motors dont need to be touched thats why its called stock class to take a motor out of a old car get the motor running and run it as is not take it apart and do this and do that to it thats making it not stock srry to say. Stock means stock ...stock rearends (no aftermarket)...stock motors (no boring or honing done) stock springs stock shocks...stock tires...and stock built cars yes dave ill agree with you my front end had allot done to it but it was what they said i could do ik that dont make it stock anymore it should be it should look like a demo car in the front if it would pass for a derby it should pass for stock class

i know i havent raced as much as some of you other guys but i have been working on new car next this summer and like my comment before im looking at running a 351 windsor cause i can find them cheap. but if were going to have these motor problems then i will go back down to a 302. keeping in mind that there are a few 302's out there that came factory with tube headers. my old car is a 77 ltd with a 351 modified (351/400). i would have no problem with compression test. and maybe a way to keep it clean is at the first race run the test on all stock class cars and then throught out the season randemly run the test on so many different cars each night of racing. but i agree with most that tearing a motor down that night of a race is not a good idea. yes people are going to rebuild motors and there guna be clean. if you like your motor your going to take care of it and keep it fresh. i dont have lot of money into my cars like other guys. but im going to take care of what ive got. but i dont make the rules i can only vote on what i think is right at least the last meeting i went to was like that. stock vote for stock and open for open. drivers only. thats how the bigger rearends got brought into stock class.

Wren my car is stock and you can complain all you want. Why wouldn't you want to put bearings and shit in the motor they do make stock replacement parts that are the same. Stock rearends and stock everything? try racing everyrace and tell me how many axles u brake and other weak shit.------ Building rearends and putting bars up front are not making the car any faster. Its making it last longer and cut down on all the time working on them! I really dont want to build a new car every year sry dont have the time! Every motorsport has these same problems!!! Logan Thomsen 9T You make some valid points Logan but where do we stop? A few years back all of the same comments you are making were made when we had one class and is part of the reason the open class is where it is at today and why we have a stock class. The stock class was created to help get people into the sport and race on a low budget I understand it is going to evolve but we keep letting it get closer to the open class ever year. Mike Wize

WOW!!!! ALL GREAT IDEAS. The claim sounds great!!!! It works in a lot of other motor sports also. HELL I WOULD HELP ANYONE THAT GOT CLAIMED PULL THEIR MOTOR FOR 50 BUCKS, they aren't hard. Even if it was 800 a claim I would let both my motors go and be smiling all the way home and probably even drop them of at your shop on the way home. How many bob cats are at the shows that one or two would hang around half an hour longer? The checking them at the start of the season sounds good also but all officials would have to share info from them or do their own.(THINK THAT WOULD HAPPEN) THE RACING FUEL USE IN THE STOCK CLASS WAS UNREAL THIS YEAR, IT REALLY DOES SMELL A LOTS DIFFERENT, NOT HARD TO TELL Sure the extra iron on the front of the cars and the rear ends doesnt make the car that much faster but it DOES MAKE THE DRIVER FILL MORE INVINCIBLE AND WILL DRIVE MORE CARELESS. IF YOUR CAR IS NOT ALL WELDED UP YOU ARE NOT GOING TO DRIVE IT LIKE A MORON AND HIT EVERY THING ON THE TRACK BUT THE OFFICIALS BECAUSE YOU KNOW YOU WILL HAVE TO DO SOME REPAIRS. (IT HAS BEEN PROVEN) THE NUT BEHIND THE WHELL WAS REALLY LOOSE ON A LOT OF CARS THIS YEAR. The hole idea is to learn how to drive with out having to hit everyone or take them out. For me it is more gratifying to know I raced a guy clean and even if I still take second or fifth, but there aren't many left with those values. THE OPEN CLASS GUYS OR ANY ONE ELSE SHOULD ALWAYS BE WELCOME TO VOICE THEIR CONCERNS AND THOUGHTS OF WAYS TO BETTER THINGS BUT IF THEY DON'T DRIVE IN THE STOCK CLASS THEY SHOULD NOT BE ABLE TO VOTE ON RULES IN THAT CLASS!!!!! Every one has different ideas to help things advance and get better so as long as it is a legitiment complaint or idea it should be welcomed to at least be heard. It might be some thing that some one just starting out or never looking at it that way would not have thought about. (LIKE THE 3/4 TON REAR ENDS STICKING OUT SO FAR ON SOME YEARS.) NEVER KNEW THERE WAS A DIFFERENCE, I GUESS YOU LEARN SOMETHING NEW SOME DAYS. (If it is every day they call that school) The stock rear end and other stock things work great as long as you drive SMART and the other drivers don't hit you in the rearends just because they know it will break easier. I WILL AGREE WITH SHANE AND OTHERS, A LOT OF CARS GOT TORE UP THIS YEAR FOR NO SENSIBLE REASON BUT IF YOU GO BACK AND LOOK AT SOME ONES VIDEO 9 TIMES OUT OF TEN IT WAS DRIVERS ERROR AND COULD HAVE BEEN AVOIDED. There is racing hard and racing to take some one out, its not that hard to see some one do it. Just my ten cents on some of it. We do have to have a rules meeting to eliminate a few words the way things are worded now so no one can read something between the lines or in a different section. I realize it while never be perfect but this year common sense took it in the shitur quick. Need to have one or two before the holidays to give guys an idea of whats being thought about changing even if it doesn't get voted on yet at least we all know the direction. Dave you make a good point about a driver in both classes but as long as they build a legal car how can you tell them no. In derbying can a guy run two classes or three if he wants ? ( I don't know so I was just asking how it works over there and figured you could give me a straight answer.) An other question since 3/4 ton rearends are voted in why cant I just go ahead and build the truck it came out of and save some money and not have to have it built to fit in a car that I would have to buy and also have more money invested? Yes I could lower it and make it stable like a car also. Just wanted your thoughts on this one also. The header thing, I think but am not sure some Chevys came out with pipe maifolds so I think the rules was voted on stock cast iron no matter what you ran. Thanks Craig Wize

Hello Craig. What is the stock class for? To get started? or to race and just have fun? There are drivers in the stock class who wonder why drivers from the open class are allowed to race stock class cars. I do think there is never enough people at rules meetings to only allow stock class drivers to vote in the stock class, and only open class drivers to vote in the open class. If drivers are allowed to drive in both classes, then drivers should be allowed to vote in both classes. Who is to say a driver may change classes mid-season?
With that written, I feel the rules are all but enough anyway, so only small changes will be voted on?
Allowed to run a truck? Not in the stock class, that is the way the rules are now. The rule is the same for open class, however, with the way some "cars" look now, I am not so sure I would be be able to tell a "car" from a "truck". Some of the open class "cars" look more like trucks anyway?
Craig, you are correct that if the drivers all drove smart and did not hit each other, then stock axle shafts would work fine. However, we both know that has never happened, at any race, so I do not think it will start now. So, we need axle shafts that do not come out (with a tire) and roll on or off the track.
On a side note, I tip my hat to Creighton William, and Chelsey RaNae Demuth, VERY NICE service Saturday. As long as you live, be happy together. David Bryan

all of you guys can complain or have good ideas but why dont we see half of you at the meetings and if you are there then why dont you bring these ideas up at a meeting all of you can sit behind a computer and type and rag on everyone elses car and the way they drive well bring it up to the members of the group not just sitting behind a computer screen but who knows if we will have a meeting or not who knows if nefigure8n is still going to be a group or how much longer the group will last
congrats creighton and chelsey

Thanks David for answering part of my question. I know what the rules say but I wanted your opinion on the truck question.
I agree with you there probable is not enough guys from each class that go to the meetings but it just does not seem fair letting the open class drivers vote on rules for a class they dont run or stock class drivers voting on open class rules. I thought they started to have polls on here to help with some of the voting.
I think if a guy decieds to start in a class in the middle of the season he just has to wait till the next rules meeting to be able to vote.
Running in both classes is a hard topic as it would be unfair to limit who can run but some where along a guy needs to decied if he has improved his skills enough to just stay in the open class.
herman16 this is supose to be a descusion board where everyone has there opprotunity to voice there opinion, concern or idea even if they go to the meetings or not. I dont think anybody is hiding behind their computer screen as most all of this has been talked about all season with some of board members and the majority of them sign their post so everyone knows how it is.
It dont work out for everyone all the time to make it to the meetings. The last one I went to I was there for four hours and nothing got acomplished because there was no agenda so I my self decieded not to go unless I knew there would be discussion about the stock class as the open class did not pertain to our cars.
I dont know what is going on with nefigure8n either but I dont think I would start any rumors or discussion like that untill someone from the board gets on here and posts it ! JMO
On a good note, CONGRATS TO CREIGHTON AND CHELSEY ALSO. HOPE SHE STILL LETS YOU RUN MORE NEXT YEAR. YOU ARE FUN TO WATCH RUN NO MATTER WHAT IT IS.
